Battle Royale questions

Battle Royale

1After the students in Japan start to refuse to go to school the government pass the ‘BR Act’ which is when they put a class of students onto a deserted island and they must fight each over three days till one is left. Class 3-B think they are taking a field trip but get gassed on the bus and taken to the island where they are told the rules and sent off, with a bag of some equipment each. They are also joined by two transfer students are much more experienced in the game. In the first six hours there are twelve deaths that have taken place and Shuya promises to keep Noriko safe. After Shuya gets wounded he’s taken to a lighthouse where there are 6 other girls who end up dying. On the morning of the final day there are only three left and it is assumed that both Shuya and Noriko are killed by Kawada. The teacher sends of the troops, so he is alone, and the three survivors come to confront him, where Shuya then shoots him. The three leave the island on a boat where Kawada then dies from his injuries, its then shown Shuya and Noriko are wanted for murder and the film ends on them going off on the run.

2. Shuya Nanahara – Male – Teenager – promises and wants to keep Noriko safe.

Noriko Nakagawa – Female – Teenager – doesn’t want to take part and hurt or kill anyone.

Shogo Kawada – Male – Teenager – wants to seek vengeance for his girlfriend from the previous BR.

Kitano-sensei (Bito Takeshi) – Male – Adult – he hated his students after getting stabbed by one of them and was rejected by his daughter and seeing Noriko as one instead.

3. Battle Royale is a sort of action-thriller film, with the main theme throughout being a sort of young vs old and distrust in the government and adults. As well as themes of trust and selfishness.

4. A1 – Everything is normal and peaceful, until the equilibrium is disturbed and the battle royale is introduced to the students.

A2 – This is where a lot of the confrontation happens and the characters are working on the problem, this being there main goal to survive and escape the island.

A3 – At then end you could say the it is kind of similar to the classical Hollywood narrative because the two main characters survive and get to stay together even though they are on the run.
